Transfer International Credits

For international courses to be evaluated for transfer credit, an official record of completion and grades must be sent directly to KU from each school you have attended.

Coursework must have been completed at an institution recognized by a U.S. regional accrediting body, such as the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which accredits KU. An international college or university must be officially recognized by its country’s Ministry of Education for students to receive transfer credit for coursework completed there.

Resources

  • If you are admitted, KU’s International Transfer Coordinator will evaluate your post-secondary transcript issued outside of the United States.
  • CredTran is an online listing of courses that KU has already evaluated. Keep in mind that CredTran is just a guide; as classes and curricula change, the evaluation might differ. Your school may not be in CredTran if it has not been previously evaluated. For more information on AS and A level subject credits, visit: Cambridge A-LevelEdexcel A-Level, and Oxford Cambridge RSA (OCR).
  • Depending on exam scores, coursework, and educational experiences, you may be able to receive college credit or placement in higher-level KU courses. The Credit and Exemption for High School Work page provides information on approved course credits and exemptions like Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credit.
